"Iffy Fifties"

Films: Alien Trespass (2009)

Alias: Ted Lewis (Urp)

Type: Alien

Location: Desert/Civilized Area

Height/Weight: Slightly larger than that of average humans.

Affiliation: Good (Urp), Neutral (Ghota)

Summary: Ah, finally. We take a trip back to when the sci-fi monsters had it good. The 50s. Truly, there was no other time for atomic horror and alien invaders like this decade. But this time, the rules are the same, but different.

History: Usually, the body snatcher is the scariest alien on the block. But here, we kind of need him. After his ship crashed into the Mohave Desert in 1957, the alien Urp found that one of his prisoners escaped. That prisoner was the dangerous meat-eating beast Ghota. Now, he has to figure out how to talk to the other humans and stop Ghota before it multiplies and destroys mankind.

Notable Kills: Nothing special.

Final Fate: Ghota and his spawn are confronted in a movie theater, where Urp helps destroy them all. He leaves, but not before bidding a rather sad farewell to a human waitress he had come to love.

Powers/Abilities: Ghota grows in power and size with each lifeform it eats, and can self-fertilize as well. Urp has access to a double-ray gun and shapeshifting technology.

Weakness: Anything conventional.

Scariness Factor: 3-Both Ghota and Urp are intentionally made to be as cheesy as possible. But even then, the former is quite unnerving with its cycloptic red eye and insatiable appetite. Urp is of course a good guy, even if he kind of looks like a tall man encased in aluminum foil.

Trivia: -Roger Ebert stated in a rather unflattering review that the only reason monster movies were like that in the 50s was because the budgets were so miniscule, therefore this film had no excuse to be as bad as it was. Hate to say it, but he was right.

-This film's director, R.W. Goodwin, cites the 1953 adaptation of "The War of the Worlds" as his favorite movie, hence the saturated color of his work.
